The alarm clock goes off, it is 5 a.m. After hitting the “snooze” button a few times, I get my stiff and sore body out of bed and by now it is 5:30. I rub my eyes and try to convince myself that my sleep was restorative. Inevitably the same refrain plays in my head: “See Christine, you are too tired! You can miss a morning’s exercise, go back to bed, you deserve to sleep longer, and you have a big work day ahead!”

After having finally accepted waking up, I put on my workout clothes, tie up my running shoes and there I am outside, ready to run my 3 km. I have succeeded, once again, in overcoming this morning resistance and getting my body moving like it should.
